Info & Vicinity

In 2005 we discovered the town of Vinsobres and it was love at first sight.

The tranquility, the sun, the beautiful landscape ideal for cycling, in combination with the Provencal kitchen and the hospitality of Le Petit Bistrot on the pittoresque church square… Those are the ingredients for a perfect holiday or a long weekend to forget the rhythm of our professional lives and to settle down.

When we found Maison Corbin in the fall of 2014 we didn’t hesitate. It was the perfect place to install three gîtes and share our passion with others. The house was ours in 2015.

The name ‘Les Amis Belges’ was an obvious choice. It was given to us by Pierrot and Claudette of the local Bistrot. They use it when jotting down our booking. It also reflects the warm and friendly atmosphere that characterizes Le Petit Bistrot and Vinsobres!

On the one hand we want to transform Les Amis Belges into the ideal resting place for short stays and on the other hand as a base for cyclists who want to explore the area around the Mont Ventoux. Guiding bicycle groups is our goal for 2016.

Les Amis Belges is situated in Vinsobres in Rue de Barriou, which is almost the highest point of the village. From here you have a magnificent view on the vineyards and the surrounding villages such as Nyopns, Mirabel, Villedieu and of course the Mont Ventoux and Les Dentelles de Montmirailles.

The three gîtes of Les Amis Belges:

Gites les Oliviers (8 persons)

Gites les Lavendes (6 persons)

Gites les Vignes (6 persons)
There is a common multipurpose room with a garden, a bicycle storage, a laundry room, a swimming pool with terrace and a Place de la Petanque. The domain will be locked at night.

The gîtes can be booked by groups and families (maximum 20 persons).

The region has its own microclimate which is unique in Europe. With an average of three hundred sunny days, this region has a subtropic climate with dry summers and soft winters. The currents of the mediterrean sea keep the winters soft and sunny. The winters in the midlands are colder and the snow-capped Mountains are perfect for skiing. Most of the precipitation falls in autumn, sometimes violent storms may occur.

Vinsobres can share in the micro-climate of the Pays de Nyons’. Due to its location between the mountains and valleys and surrounded by hills, the climate is mild with plenty of sunshine and little wind. This means a lot of sunshine (2800 hours per year) and high temperatures. Hence the nickname ‘Le petit Nice dans la Drôme’.

From May till October the temperature rises above 20°C. The daytime temperature in midsummer is about 30°C, with peaks up to 35°C. However, it is rarely oppressively hot thanks to the low humidity and a natural air conditioner, which is called Mistral.
